Easy Riders ( with due apologies to jack nicholson,Peter Fonda )
Hi ,
Its been long since I wrote something.Well to think of it , what could I have written , nothing right was goin in life - the music amplifiers which I had got were really buggin me, my mobile was / is out of order and this is just material loss and I have not even started personal setbacks. So to literally run away from these worries,I decided to chill out one weekend.
1 April , normally the day when ppl try to be on guard from others and their jokes and mischiefs. But not me , I was myself being joked upon by lady luck with all sorts of problems befelling me at the same time.Well without carping on philosophical aspects of life , at around 11:30 am , I got a call from head quarter( my dad :D ) saying or rather ordering " beta , you have to go to agra , there is some family function of close relative and as we cant go then you please go on our behalf" .Think of it, ain`t it silly , that you cant go and I proxy on your behalf. And this is the same establishment which frowns upon us when we do proxy attendance for our classmates.Crumbs !!!! Grown ups , you can never understand that.
Those of you, who have lived in delhi can very well understand the weather at around April. On books its spring , but once you get down to brasstacks , its summer nonetheless. But it was useless arguing , becoz what he had passed was not an suggestion but an ORDER.So with a frown on my face , I was pondering over how to go about doing that and cursing on my position in the family( whenever there is some help required , I am grown up and whenever some unpleasant decision to be taken I am made out to be Kid ) .Infact , so much so that sometimes in a single day , I have oscillated between being kid and adult as much as 5-6 times. But thats different story altogether.
All of a sudden my frnd suggested that why not go on our bikes as Agra is just 200 km and the roads are superb. That idea rang a bell in my mind.Bike + agra = adventure.I instantly said yes .Mebbe he meant his comment to be innocuous and taken in lighter vein. But it struck me.I said ok vikram in that case you are coming with me.He was taken aback and tried to ward me off but it was too late .Now it was my chance to pass ORDERS.
Well after much persuasion , pampering , admonishing at 4:30 pm we were standing next to our bikes in the basement of the apartments with the bag , helmets and all jet set ready to go like some rebels.
The drive till faridabad was quite humdrum with the chaotic traffic of Badarpur border adding to our cup of miseries. We were beginning to get apprehensive that mebbe the bike trip was not such a good idea after all.But all our fears turned out to be confounded , once we crossed faridabab border.
Before I proceed further , lemme tell you delhi - agra taj expressway is india second best highway ( after mumbai-pune expressway) with 4 lanes road all through and the road as well maintained and smooth as say cheeks of aishwarya ;) .Hope you all wud have got the idea by now.
Coming back to the adventures of the "Easy Riders" , the moment we crossed city limits of faridabad, my roomy got excited on seeing the clean and wide roads and stepped on the gas.It was only a matter of 5-10 secs and the pulsar 180 reached 100kph .This magical figure was enuff to give me a HIGH.We raced on for close to 1 hr.Then thought of giving the bike a stop ( it was more of our hunger then bike`s need) so we stopped at a very famous dhaba on the way( the advantage of mine having lived in agra). The dhaba food made us forget noida/delhi and their restaurants.Paranthes , with dollops of butter with aroma enough to put you in trance... muaaaaaah.... had load fill of paranthas
After filling our fuel tank , we set out to agra and reached there by 9:00 pm.Not bad considering that we had night driving plus stopover for food.Already I was beginning to feel good , after all agra used to be my city.Hari parvat with its book stalls with cheap novels, pratapura with its tasty kachoris, sadar bajaar with its share of eye candies this used to be my playground :D..
We checked in our hotel and went to bed , congratulating each other on our successfull road trip and feeling all freshend up.
Next day we set out for a excursion of the Agra but that would be in a different blog :)
waiting for ur comments
PS :- Incidentally the photo of taj has been clicked by me :)

Your blog makes me nostalgic. I had similar experiences, though mine was quite an adventure in the sense that i didnt have a driving license , my bike was not registered and it was my first trip outside noida. The dhaba's are real gooooood.
